Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop
The theme this month is:
This month’s theme chosen by the Creative Design Team Members is a Theme Challenge to produce a Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout using all of the 2022-2024 InColors below.
When you look at the 2022-2024 InColors Christmas does not spring to mind. In fact most people would probably choose these colours for a Christmas project. So this will certainly be an interesting challenge. I decided to expand on the Alternative Christmas Card I had made for an earlier blog hop. To see my Alternative Christmas Card click here.
How I made my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout
I started off with a 12×12 piece of Basic White card stock. Next I stamped the holly leaves from the Leaves of Holly stamp set using Parakeet Party ink. I stamped off the infill image so I had a different shade of Parakeet Party. I then chose to have similar stamped imaged on opposite corners. Once I was happy with my stamped holly leaves I stamped and die cut the bunches of holly berries by using Sweet Sorbet ink. So that was two In Colors ticked off.
How I coloured in the Gnome on my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout
Next I needed to add in some Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis and Tahitian Tide so what better way than to use them to colour in one of the gorgeous gnomes from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set. I stamped the outline image using Starry Sky ink and as he was holding onto his hat I decided to have him popping in from the top edge and from the left hand side edge. I then coloured in the hat using Starry Sky Blends. For his clothes I used Orchid Oasis Blends and for his mittens Tahitian Tide Blends.
How I made the title for my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout
Now I needed to choose a Title for my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook layout so what better that the words ‘It’s Christmas’.
I know many of us have been waiting for some alphabet dies and I am so please that I was able to order the new A La Mode Alphabet dies. So I decided to die cut the letters using all five In Colors. Yes I did forget to add the adhesive sheet to my card stock before I die cut my first three letters. Once I had decided where I wanted the letters to go I stuck them on to my layout. The adhesive sheet does make sticking then down a breeze.
How I made the baubles for my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout.
I then needed to add somewhere for my photos and journalling. Usually I use square or rectangle mat layers but I remembered designing a scrapbook layout years ago where I used circles so why not make circle baubles. So this is what I did by die cutting out various circles from the stitched Circle dies.
Of course baubles need something to fix them to the Christmas tree so I coloured in White Bakers Twine using all of the 2022-2024 In Color Dark Blends. It was a bit messy but the secret is to hold the blend against scrap paper and pull the string under the thick tip. If you do it quickly then you get a patched effect. Once I was happy I tied a bow and stuck it to the top of the bauble using a glue dot.
Now to finish my Non Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Layout.
Lastly all I need to do is take some photos over Christmas. I will then die cut them out and stick them onto the larger baubles and add some journalling to the two smaller baubles.
Finally I do hope that you have enjoyed seeing how I made my Non Traditional Christmas scrapbook layout using the 2022-2024 In Colors. So why not have a go and post your finished project onto my Facebook page.
