Welcome to the Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop

The theme this month is ‘What is your favourite Stampin’ Up! Tool

There are lots of useful tools from Stampin’ Up! but my favourite has to be the blending brushes and using them to colour in flowers. In my blog a few days ago I used them to make a scrapbook layout using only 3 colours well this time I had all 52 colours to choose from. I saw this idea on Ginny’s facebook page and just loved how real the pansies looked. I cant wait to see what Ginny has chosen as her favourite Stampin’ Up! tool.

How to use blending brushes for flowers.

I started by die cutting the petals and leaves using Basic White card stock and the pansy dies. Next I decided which colours I wanted to colour in the flowers. I decided to use Bumblebee and Gorgeous Grape as we have some lovely pansies in these colours.

What I like about the blending brushes is that I can build up the colour intensity and no one flower will be the same. First I started off by smooching the Bumblebee ink over the pansy petals building up the colour until I was happy with each one. I then did the same using the Gorgeous Grape ink.

Once I was happy with the pansies I stuck the petals together to make the full flower and put to one side.

Next I had to decide on which greens to use for the leaves. My first choice was to use Just Jade ink but it made the leaves look a bit blue so I decided on Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen ink. I started by using the Soft Succulent first all over the leaf. Then I smooched the Evening Evergreen ink on the outside of the leaves.

Next I decided to die cut a stitched rectangle mat layer using the Rectangle Stitched dies and Basic White card stock. I then smooched this mat layer using Pale Papaya ink. Now came the fun bit of deciding how to place the pansies and leaves. Once I was happy with my layout I took a photo so I knew where to put them as I stuck them to the mat layer.

When I had stuck the pansies and leaves onto the mat layer I had to decide what to use for my back mat layer. I decided to use the Pansy Petals DSP as it went so well with my flowers. I also decided to use Basic White Thick card stock for my card base. Then I stuck the patterned may layer to the card base before finally sticking the card front on top.

To finish off the pansies I stuck one of the Soft Sea Spray Pearl Gems to each flower.

I now have a lovely card that I can use for any occasion by adding a small die cut tag with a sentiment on.

I hope you have loved seeing my favourite Stampin’ Up! tool and how I have used the blending brushes for the flowers. Why don’t you have a go.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
