Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop Title

Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop.

The theme this month is: A Scrapbook Sketch.

The theme for this month has been decided by the talented Julia Quinn.

One of my favourite things is using a sketch to make a scrapbook layout as it makes it so quick and easy to complete a scrapbook layout. As this year hubby and I are celebrating large birthdays I am making scrapbook layouts so that they are ready for when I take any photographs. Here is the Scrapbook Layout Sketch that Julia has chosen for us.

How to use a sketch to make a scrapbook layout.

Photograph of my finished scrapbook layout. Which I made using a sketch to make a scrapbook layout.

First I cut down a 12″ x 12″ piece of Basic White card stock so that it was 11 1/2″ x 11 1/2″. Next I chose one of the sheets from the Everyday Happiness Designer Series Paper pack and cut out the middle so I had a 1 1/2″ square frame. I then stuck the Basic White card stock onto the square frame.

I then took one of the sheets of Pretty Peacock Two Tone card stock from the Everyday You & Me Two-Tone card stock pack and tore off a very small strip from one edge before tearing off a wider strip. I then stuck this strip across by scrapbook layout. I do love tearing the Two Tone card stock as this strip reminded me of the outline of mountains and the reflection in a lake which is just right for our cruise to Norway later this year.

Next I cut two mat layers for my photographs out of Pretty Peacock card stock and laid them down onto my scrapbook layout so that I could work out where to stamp my title and my lines. I decided to stamp the word ‘Celebrate’ from the Wild Flower Celebrations stamp set and the lines from the Reindeer Memories stamp set both using Pretty Peacock ink.

I then stuck my photograph mat layers onto my scrapbook layout leaving it unglued where they overlapped. This will enable me to slide my photograph behind the other one.

To finish off I cut some small strips from the left over Designer Series Paper and Pretty Peacock Two Tone card stock and added them to the top left-hand corner and the bottom right-hand corner as per the sketch. I then added a few of the Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems to add a bit of sparkle.

Now all I need to do is take some photographs and journaling to my scrapbook layout.

I do hope you have loved seeing how I have used Julia’s sketch to make my scrapbook layout. It is a great way to get started if you are struggling with a idea of what to use or just to try something out. Please do have a go yourself and share what you make onto my Facebook page.
