How to make a Simple Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout to record your precious memories.
As I am going on a cruise this month I decided to prepare a couple of scrapbook layouts before I actually went. As I have 2 days where I will be at sea I decided to make a Blue Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout to record what I did on the first sea day.
How I made my Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout

First I took a piece of 12×12 Willow White card stock as my scrapbook layout base layer. Next I tore curved strips of Blueberry Bushel Two Tone card stock using a metal curved ruler. I love how the white core of the Two Tone Card stock easily makes the froth on the waves and that being two tone I get two different shades to use for the waves.
As i was using a large area for the waves I decided that I wanted the photograph and journaling popping up out of the waves. To do this I cut 2 pieces of Balmy Blue card stock each measuring 6 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ to make my photo mat layers.
I then cut another piece of Balmy Blue card stock measuring 4″ x 4″ for my journaling to go on.
How to make the Tabbed Mat Layers for my Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout

First I stamped the striped tab image twice onto Balmy Blue card stock using Blueberry Bushel ink. I then punched out each tab using the Keeping Tabs punch. Next I stamped the ‘happy HOLIDAYS’ image onto each punched out tab again using Blueberry Bushel ink. Finally I glued each tab onto one of the photo mat layers and the other onto the journaling mat layer.
How to stick the waves onto Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout

As I wanted the photo and the journaling to fit in between the waves I stuck the first 3 strips of waves onto the bottom third of the scrapbook base. I only stuck each strip at each end. On the final 2 strips I stuck them at each end and along the bottom edge. As you can see in the photograph I used different sides of the Two Tone card stock to make the different shades of the sea.
Once the waves were stuck onto the scrapbook base I stamped the sea spray using the dots from the Elements of Text stamp set and Balmy Blue Ink.
How to finish off my Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout

To finish off my scrapbook layout I die cut out the letters to make SEA DAY from Balmy Blue card stock using the Alphabet A la Mode dies. I remembered to add some of the Adhesive Sheet onto the back of my card stock before die cutting the letters.
I added the title to the top left hand side of the monochromatic scrapbook layout before sticking the remaining photo mat layer between the title and the sea spray.
I do love how my simple Monochromatic Scrapbook Layout turned out. Now I need to make another similar one for my other Sea Day.
