Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop
The theme this month is:
The theme for this month’s scrapbook layout has been decided by Mai Chapelain.
I love doing Colour Challenges as I often do not think that the colours chosen will actually look good together. How wrong I am? I was pleased to be proved wrong with this Colour Challenge for my scrapbook layout.
When my daughter got engaged a couple of years ago her first words were ‘Mum, I will not be asking you to make my wedding stationery’. Whilst most mums would be upset by a comment like that but as she is a graphic designer I understood where she was coming from. Well, fast forward to a month ago when she had set the date and said ‘ Mum please can I come over and look through your stash. We then spent a few hours looking at all of the current Stampin’ Up! colours as I know if I choose one colour I can get matching ink, pens, cardstock and embellishments. Then we spent a day a couple of weeks ago making her Save the Date cards.
She finally chose Misty Moonlight as her main colour. Of course when I saw the colours in this colour challenge I knew I could use this scrapbook layout for her wedding prep album.
How to make my Scrapbook Layout using a Colour Challenge
First I started by making the pansies. I got this idea from a card I saw recently from Ginny Harrell, a fellow demo. I thought that I would try the technique on a scrapbook layout. First I die cut the pansy petals using the Pansy dies and Basic White card stock. I then used the Petal Pink ink pad and a blending brush to smooch ink over the outside of the petals. Next I used the Misty Moonlight ink pad and smooched ink on the inside of each petal before sticking them together to make each flower. To finish off each pansy I added one of the Seaside Spray Pastel Pearls to the centre of each one.
Next I used strips of A4 card stock of various widths to make panels down each side of the layout and down the middle. I then added the pansy flowers to each edge strip and one in the middle.
Next I cut a Misty Moonlight mat layer and matching Basic White mat layer. I will add some journaling about how we made the Save the Date cards. Next I added one of the blank Save the Date cards to the bottom of the middle panel. I will swap this for the actual Save the Card once they have been written.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I have made a scrapbook layout using a colour challenge. Why not go away and have a go at making one yourself using these three colours.
Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,

Your pansies are perfect! Thanks for the shout out.
I love how you coloured your pansies and the whole idea about telling the story about save the date cards in a wedding album for your daughter…such a special time for both of you and this album will be treasured for many years after!
The blending on the pansies is beautiful. Nice job with the layout/color challenge!
I love the way you’ve created the pansies!! The softness of the blending brush looks just glorious. And how marvellous that you and your daughter can enjoy these glorious colours together! Love it.
Beautiful Pansies for your layout, Such a pretty layout <3
