Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop.
The theme this month is: Travel.
The theme for this month has been decided by the talented Sharni Haines.
When I saw the theme for this month’s blog hop I first thought of transport and how we travel. But then I thought about making a double layout about how my daughter travelled from leaving school at 16 and being told that she would not amount to anything and 7 years later she graduated with a degree in Graphic Design.
How I made my double scrapbook layout – Travel Through Life – Page 1
First I started by choosing Bermuda Bay as my background as it matched my daughter’s dress. The I cut the photographs to fit. Next I cut a Basic White card mat layer for the journaling. I started by drawing an double outline before stamping the image of the owl and the sentiment We’re in this together. I chose this sentiment because it was not an easy journey getting to University and getting a degree especially as we found out whilst my daughter was at University that she was dyslexic and had not been given the support she needed at school to achieve her best.
How I made the title of my double scrapbook layout – Travel Through Life
First I cut a strip of the starry designer series paper from the Enjoy the Journey DSP. Then i stamped the sentiment ;You belong among the STARS’ using Bermuda Bay ink and die cut out it out using the Beautiful Shapes dies.
How I coloured in the Owls on my Travel through Life scrapbook layout
First I stamped the Owl image onto a Basic White scrap. I then coloured in both owls using Gray Granite Light Blend for his face and tummy, the Dark Blend for his nose, the Crumb Cake Light Blend for his ears, wings, body and top of his head. I wanted to make a darker shade of Crumb Cake so I did this by building up layers of the Crumb Cake Light Blend.
For his eyes I used the Pale Papaya Light Blend and the So Saffron Light Blend. Next I fussy cut out the owl on the scrap piece of Basic White and stuck it onto the starry DSP. I finished off the owls by cutting a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock to make a mortarboard.

For my second page I again chose the same back ground card stock and cut the photos down to fit the page. Again I used some of the starry DSP as a background for my second piece of journaling. I stamped the sentiment ‘Wishing you joy in your next Adventure’ using Bermuda Bay ink.
Because I felt there was a gap in the middle of the layout I decided to use the sentiment’ This Moment is the start of Something Great’. I stamped the sentiment using Bermuda Bay ink and die cut it out using the large circle from the Beautiful Shapes dies. However, I still felt it needed something extra so I cut two strips of Basic White card stock and flagged the ends before sticking onto the back of the sentiment to make a simple rosette. Once I was finally happy with it I stuck it onto the layout using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
How I finished off my double scrapbook layout – Travel Through Life
Finally to finish off my double layout I completed the journaling but I felt it had some white spaces so I decided to add some die cut moons using Daffodil Delight card stock.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my take on Travel. I am so proud of my daughter and what she has managed to achieve despite being written off at School and later being diagnosed as Dyslexic. Why not have a go at making a scrapbook about your achievements and share your layout on my Facebook page. I would love to see what you come up with.
Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
