Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop in 2022

The theme this month is Sale-a-bration and/or the January to July 2022 Mini catalogue

Welcome to the first blog hop of 2022. It is an exciting time of the year as a Stampin’ Up! customer as you have a new mini catalogue out and for every £45 spent on product you get to choose a FREE product from the Sale-a-bration leaflet. When I saw the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set in the January to July 2022 mini catalogue I knew I had to get it. So for my project this time I wanted to experiment using the blending technique on a scrapbook layout and use the Happy Hedgehogs Bundle.

How to make the Scrapbook layout using the Blending Technique

Scrapbook Layout using Blending Technique and Happy Hedgehogs stamp set

First I started with a 12″x12″ piece of Basic White card stock. I stamped the flowering trees first using Black Memento ink. I then stamped the toadstools using Smoky Slate ink so that the outline would disappear after I had coloured it in. Next I stamped the grass image using Evening Evergreen ink. I overlapped the images so I had a continuous line of grass. I then stamped both hedgehog images using Black Memento ink. Finally I stamped the butterfly image again using Black Memento ink.

Colouring in the stamped images using the blending technique

I started by colouring in the toadstools using Poppy Parade and Smoky Slate Blends mixing the Dark and Light shades to give some dimension. Next I coloured in the hedgehogs using Crumb Cake Blends. I started with the light shade and then added the dark shade over the prickles and the legs. I then coloured in the flowering trees. Again I used Poppy Parade for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the leaves and stems. Finally I coloured in the butterfly images using Balmy Blue Blends and the Light Crumb Cake Blend on the body.

Next I cut a 2″ strip of 12″x12″ Real Red card stock to pick up the red from the photo and to cover a mistake as I had stamped the butterfly image but it did not come out properly. I then tried Real Red for the photo mat layers whilst it looked great with the phot of the hedgehog eating it looked terrible with the hoglets on my lap so I decided to use Basic Black card stock for my mat layer.

Next I stuck the mat layers and photos onto the scrapbook layout leaving a space for some journelling. For my journalling I cut a piece of Basic White card stock to fit the space and a Basic Black mat layer. I will complete my journelling later when I can find a decent pen.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my scrapbook layout using the blending technique. Why not have a go yourself.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
