This month we have been asked to think about creating something that is special about Birthdays and for Its My Birthday Scrapbook Layout I decided to use banners and cake. I decided to use a couple of products that we tend to miss. One is the Days to Remember stamp set and the other is the Light The Candles Card Kit. I love out various kits as you have everything in therm to make the cards or change them to something different like a scrapbook layout.

How I made my Its My Birthday Scrapbook Layout

I started with a 12×12 piece of Basic White card stock. Next I cut 1″ strips of Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Tahitian Tide card stock, Using the Banners Pick a Punch I made different length banners. I then cut a piece of Linen thread and stuck it and the banners onto the top left and bottom right corners to look like bunting.

How I stencilled the cake for my Its My Birthday Scrapbook Layout

Next I took one of the cake cut outs from the Light The Candles card kit and using sponge daubers I sponged Melon Mambo, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake to make a chocolate cake. I used sticky notes to mask each area as I sponged each colour. Finally I added a Crushed Curry Star to the top of the cake candle.

How I made the calendar for my Its My Birthday Scrapbook Layout

I then stamped the calendar from the Date to Remember stamp set onto a piece of Basic White card using sticky notes to blank off the numbers I did not want. Remembering to ink the stamp first then add the sticky notes or you will get ink on your sticky notes and then onto your card stock. I then stamped the November onto a strip of Basic White card stock and mounted both the month and the calendar onto a piece of Basic Gray card stock.

How I finished my Its My Birthday Scrapbook Layout

Next I cut out a Basic Gray mat layer for a photograph and stuck it down onto the layout. I then used the sentiments from the Light The Candles Kit and Basic Gray ink to stamp Hip Hip Hooraaaaaay! and Happy Happy Birthday. Next added the sentiment Today’s Your Day under the calendar and Happy Birthday to you in the bottom right corner.

I love how this scrapbook layout turned out especially the calendar and will certainly be using it again. Why not have a got at using one of our kits to make a scrapbook layout or a calendar to add to one of your layouts,

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
