I decided for my scrapbook layout using layers that I would choose one of my favourite photographs that was taken at my son’s wedding in April this year. His new wife is American and this photograph is of her mum and me. Even though we have only met face to face a couple of times we just get on so well and this photograph just shows how well we do.

How I made my Scrapbook Layout using Layers

First I chose a 12″ x 12″ piece of Night of Navy card stock as my layout base as it matched my wedding outfit. I then chose the Melon Mambo 6″ x 6″ designer series papers from the Brights collection to match the colour of my dress and hat. As I only had four sheets of designer series paper I had to make the most of it so I decided to cut it into strips.

Once I had cut the strips of designer series paper I laid them on top of each other before adding a strip of Night of Navy card stock. I am really pleased with how they turned out. I then cut out two squares again using the designer series paper and added a square of Basic White card stock to write my journaling.

How I made the flowers around the photograph for my Scrapbook Layout using layers

First I mat layered the photograph using Navy of Navy and Basic White card stock. Next I stamped the rose from the Sentimental Rose Kit Collection onto Basic White card stock. I used Night of Navy and Melon Mambo ink to stamp the roses. Next I coloured in each flower using the matching Stampin’ Blend. First I used the light blend on the uninked areas and the dark blend on the inked areas. I really love how they turned out. I then fussy cut the coloured images out. Then I punched out some leaves using the Bough Punch and Mossy Meadow card stock.

Once I had everything ready I laid everything out onto the layout and stuck everything down. I decided to raise the roses up so I stuck then onto the layout using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I stuck the leaves underneath the roses.

How I finished off my Scrapbook Layout using Layers

Finally I punched out two circles using the designer series paper then another two circles using Basic White card stock. On the larger Basic White circle I stamped the words ‘A Day to Remember’ from the Days to Remember stamp set. Then on the smaller Basic White circle I stamped the word ‘April’ again from the Days to Remember stamp set. I used Night of Navy ink to stamp the words. Next I stuck them onto the designer series paper circles and added one to each strip of Night of Navy card stock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
