Welcome to this month’s Ink, Stamp, Share Showcase Blog Hop.

This month I have chosen to make a background using a handmade stencil. To make this month’s card I chose to use two of the Sale-a-bration products. The Jungle Pals which you can choose for FREE when you place an order for £45 and matching Jungle Pals Dies which you can choose for FREE when you place an order for £90.

How to make the card.

Photograph of card using a background made from a handmade stencil.

First I cut a portrait card base using Basic White Thick card stock. Next I cut a mat layer using Basic Black card stock. This will give a neutral background to my card. After that I stuck the Basic Black mat layer onto my card front.

How I made the background using a handmade stencil.

Photograph of handmade stencil and background

First I die cut the large leaf dies out of Basic White card stock. I then cut out a Basic White mat layer. After that I laid the leaf stencil over the Basic White mat layer and using a blending brush blended ink through the stencil. I chose to use a variety of our green ink. Old Olive, Parakeet Party, Garden green and Granny Apple Green to give a tree canopy feel to the card.

Once I was happy with this I die cut out the trunks and branches using Pecan Pie card stock. Next I stuck it onto my leaf mat layer. I then stamped the toucan using Black Memento ink and die cut it out before colouring in. I chose to use Tahitian Tide (light) blend, Poppy Parade (dark) blend, Pumpkin Pie (light and dark) blends and Smoky Slate (dark) blend to colour in. Once I was happy with my colouring I stuck it onto one of the lower branches using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I then stamped the sentiment ‘Happy Birthday to You’ from the Zany Zoo stamp set using Black Memento ink. I chose this sentiment as it is a lovely small sentiment and will not take over the overall look of the card. Next I die cut it out using the small square from the Stylish Shapes dies. I then stuck the sentiment onto the middle branch using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally I stuck the mat layer onto the Basic Black mat layer and added three Brushed Brass Butterflies onto the card front.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I made this card. Don’t you just love the cheeky jungle animals and their matching dies. Why not have a god at making a similar card and share it on my Facebook page.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
