Tech 4 Stampers Academy Blog Hop Title

Welcome to this month’s Tech 4 Stampers Academy Blog Hop.

This month’s theme is: Cards for Kids.

I decided I would be creating a kid’s card using a scrapbook sketch that I had designed for one of my monthly Scrapbook Saturday Challenges. When using a scrapbook sketch or even a card sketch you can turn it around and remove elements to fit what you want to do. For my card I decided to turn the scrapbook sketch 90 degrees and to line up two of the photograph elements.

Creating a kid’s card using a scrapbook sketch – Instructions.

Creating a kid's card using a scrapbook sketch - finished card

First I cut a piece of 12×12 Basic White cardstock in half and scored it at 6″ to make a 6×6 card base. Next I cut some of the Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper into rectangles to make the background. Using Copper Clay card stock I die cut the sand castle out and arranged it onto the edge of the card front.

I then stamped the flag using black memento ink and colouring it in using Real Red Blends. Next I stamped the image with the kids in the box boat twice. On one I coloured in the kids using a variety of Blends. On the second one I coloured in the paper hat, the box boat and the small kid. This image I fussy cut around the coloured elements before using Stampin’ Dimensionals to stick them over the other image to make the image pop. Did you know that this technique is called spotlighting?

Creating a kid’s card using a scrapbook sketch – number and sentiment.

I then stamped the number 5 from the Classic Letters stamp set and the sentiment from the Kiddin’ Around stamp set using black memento onto a piece of Basic White cardstock before die cutting them out using the Stylish Shapes dies. I die cut a larger square out of Copper Clay card stock and then I stuck the number onto it. I then added the number and the sentiment to the card front. Finally I die cut out a small circle using the circle die and Basic White Card stock. I then smooched Pumpkin Pie over the circle to make a sun before adding it to the card front and drawing black sun rays.

I really love challenging myself to creating a kid’s card using a scrapbook sketch. Why not have a go and share what you make onto my Facebook page.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
