Welcome to this month’s Colour Combo Blog Hop
This month’s three colours are Granny Apple Green, Pool Party and Just Jade
For this month’s Colour Combo blog hop I decided to have a go at using the three colours to make a blended background for a male birthday card. Whilst I was tidying up my craft desk I found a piece of card where I had been trying out my blending technique and wondered what it would look like using Granny Apple Green, Pool Party and Just Jade ink.
How to make the Happy Birthday Card
I started by cutting a piece of Basic White Thick card stock in half along the long edge to make a portrait card base. Next I cut a 10cm x 14.3cm mat layer using Just Jade card stock. I then cut a 9.5cm x 13.8cm mat layer using Basic White card stock.
Next using Granny Apple Green, Pool Party and Just Jade ink pads I blended the three colours onto the Basic White mat layer to make a back ground. I am really impressed in how it turned out and of course everyone will be different.
Next I stuck the mat layers onto of each other and added them to the card base.
How to make the sentiment layer
I wanted a larger Happy Birthday sentiment so I chose the one from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set. Using Just Jade ink I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Basic White card stock. Next I cut a slightly wider strip of Just Jade card stock for the sentiment mat layer. I tried putting the sentiment in a straight line across the card front but I was not happy with it so I decided to put it diagonally across the card front. I found it easier to lay the mat layer across the card front and mark off with pencil where it crosses the background mat layer. Next I cut along the marks and placed the stamped sentiment layer on top before sticking them both onto the card front. Then I noticed how the Happy Birthday sentiment slightly fades towards the right which fits in with the background.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my blended background Happy Birthday card. I know I will certainly be using this technique again on other cards.
Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
