The theme this month is a Colour Challenge.

I love doing a colour challenge as some of the colours used I would not think to put together. This colour challenge has the lovely bright In Colors, Polished Pink, Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide. For some reason these colours just screamed out to be used to make a watercolour splat background for a Thank You card.

How I made my Colour Challenge Thank You card

I started by wetting a sheet of watercolour paper with water. Once it was soaked I dripped drops of Polished Pink re-inker onto the water and watched it spread out. I then used the Tahitian Tide re-inker and the Parakeet Party re-inker to add drops to the wet water colour paper. To encourage the ink to spread more I spritzed the paper with water until I was happy with how it looked. I then put it to one side to dry thoroughly.

Once the watercolour paper was dry I cut it up into mat layers. Next I cut some mat layers using Basic Black card stock and stuck the watercolour paper onto these. I then cut card bases using Basic White Thick card stock and stuck the mat layers onto them.

How I finished off my Colour Challenge Thank You Card

To finish off the Colour Challenge Thank You card I stamped the small Thank You from the Go to Greetings Stamp Set on to Basic White card stock and punched it out using the Double Oval punch. I then punched the Scallop Oval using Basic Black card stock and stuck the stamped oval onto it. Finally I stuck it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I enjoyed making the Colour Challenge Thank You card. In fact I had enough to make three more. I will certainly be using this technique again with other colours. Why not have a go at it yourself and share your card onto my Facebook page.
