Welcome to this month’s Ink, Stamp, Share Monthly Blog Hop
The theme this month is Christmas In July
We may be in the middle of Summer and thinking about Christmas in July may seem too early but in 154 days it will be Christmas Day. Scary but now is the time to start making Christmas Cards. For my Christmas in July card I have chosen to use the Hostess Stamp Set in the July – December mini catalogue. I like many others often forget about choosing the hostess gifts when placing an order over £150. When I say this stamp set I knew I just had to have it.
How I made my Christmas in July card
First I chose my background designer series paper. I was going to stamp stars/snowflakes onto a Night of Navy card stock mat layer but I then saw that the Storybook Gnomes DSP had just what I wanted.
Next I stamped the large mouse image from the Caroling Mice stamp set onto Basic White card stock using Basic Gray ink. I then stamped two of the street lamp images again onto Basic White card stock using Basic Gray ink,
How to colour in the street lamps
Now came the fun part of colouring in the images using the Blends. For the street lamps I chose to use Evening Evergreen Blends as Basic Black would have been too dark. Next I coloured in the light using the So Saffron Blends and finally the bow using Sweet Sorbet Blends.
How to colour in the mice
For the mice I used the following Blends:
- Smokey Slate and Gray Granite for the mice.
- Polished Pink, Tahitan Tide and Starry Sky for the coats.
- Flirty Flamingo, Real Redr and Pumpkin Pie for the scarves.
- Basic Black for the writing on the song sheets.
When I had coloured in all of the images I laid them out onto the background before sticking the street lamps in place. I then stuck the mice onto the background using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
How to finish off my Christmas in July card
Next I stamped the sentiment from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set onto Basic White card stock using Evening Evergreen ink. I then die cut out the sentiment using one of the Stitched Rectangles dies before adding to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I decided to use the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint for the bobbles on the mice’s hats. It is fun watching it puff up as you heat it up.
Finally I stamped the notes in Black Memento ink before sticking onto a Thick Basic White bard base.
I hope that seeing my Christmas in July card that it has given you some inspiration to have a go yourself. Please do share your finished card on to my Facebook page.
