Today I am going to show you how to make a card using water colouring pencils to colour in a stamped outline image.

One of my favourite techniques is water colouring images so I am going to show you how to make a card using water coloured images. I do love how you can get different results by using water colouring pencils and a water painter so much so I did a YouTube to show you how to do this.

How I made my card using water coloured images.

First I cut a square of water colour paper and stamped the flower image and the butterfly image from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set onto water colour paper using Black Memento Ink. Next I coloured in the butterfly and flowers using Balmy Blue, Blue, Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy water colouring pencils. I then used a water painter to blend in the petals. Next using Granny Apple Green and Old Olive water colouring pencils I coloured in the leaves and Garden Green water colouring pencil for the stems. Again I used the water painter to add water to blend in the leaves.

Once the image was dry I went over the butterfly with Wink of Stella to make the wings shimmer. I also made the butterfly body a bit darker using the Basic Black write marker.

Once I was happy with how with my stamped coloured images I then added a border by running the edges across the Azure Afternoon ink pad.

I then cut a smaller piece of water colouring paper for the sentiment and stamped the ‘Thanks’ using Azure Afternoon ink. Again I added the boarder by running the edges across the Azure Afternoon ink pad.

How I finished my card using water coloured images.

First I cut a portrait Basic White Thick card base. Next I cut a strip from the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Papers and stuck it to the left hand edge of the card base. I then added both the pieces of stamper water colour paper to the card front using Stampin Dimensionals. Finally I coloured some Rhinestone Gems using the Azure Afternoon Blends and added them to the card front.

If you would like more details please click on the image below to visit my YouTube where I show you how I used one of my FREE card sketches to make this card and another one which I made using Stampin Write Markers.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the card that I made using water coloured images. Why not have a go yourself and share your card onto my Facebook page.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
