Welcome to this month’s Build & Bloom Stampers Blog Hop.

This month’s theme is: Sea/Coastal.

This month my beach Birthday card has to be one with a blended background. I really love using the Stampin’ Up! inks to make different backgrounds especially beach/sea backgrounds.

How I made my Beach Birthday card.

Beautiful Relaxing Beach Birthday Card showing blended background.

First I cut a Basic White landscape card base. I then cut a Basic Gray mat layer and stuck it onto the card front. Next I cut a Basic White mat layer to make my blended background.

For the background I used a piece off acetate to mark across the middle of the Basic White mat layer and blended Balmy Blue ink over the top half of the mat layer. Next I moved the acetate down a bit towards the bottom and blended more Balmy Blue ink. This gave me a light area and a darker area which makes up the shoreline and horizon. Then using Daffodil Delight ink I blended the bottom part of the mat layer to make a beach.

How I finished my Beach Birthday card.

Using the ‘grass’ stamps from the Waterside Retreat stamp set I stamped grasses in the bottom corners using Peaceful Pine ink. I then stamped the flying seagulls in the top part of the sky using Basic Gray ink. I took a while deciding on how I wanted the sentiment before finally deciding to just stamp it on the bottom using Basic Gray ink. Next I stuck the blended mat layer onto the Basic Gray mat layer before finally adding some ‘rock’ gems from the April Paper Pumpkin Kit – Lakeside Retreat.

I have enjoyed making my beach Birthday card with the blended background. I love how each time I do a beach blended background it is different every time.

Thank you for reading how I made my beach Birthday card and I hope that this inspires you to have a go at making your own blended backgrounds for your cards.

Of course I would love to see what you make so please do pop a picture onto my Facebook page.
