This Month’s Theme is: Squares.

For my easy birthday card using squares I decided to use what I had left over from the Homemade & Heartfelt Card Kit. Once I had made one of each of the cards in the kit I then decided to cut the remaining card bases in half to make 2 mat layers for other cards.

How I made my easy Birthday Card using Squares

First of all I cut a portrait card base using Basic Beige card stock. I then cut 1 of the blue mat layers (cut from a remaining card base) to make a mat layer and added it to the card base. Next I cut 3 of the birds from another card base into squares. I then cut 3 mat layers for the birds using Basic Beige card stock and stuck the birds onto each square.

I laid these squares on top of the card front to see what size I needed my sentiment mat layer to be. I then cut a mat layer again using Basic Beige card stock. I stamped the sentiment ‘Happy Birthday’ onto it using secret sea ink.

I then stuck the mat layer squares onto the card front. I stuck the sentiment mat layer using multipurpose adhesive and the bird mat layers using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally I added 5 of the blue sparkly sequins onto the front of the card.
