Welcome to this month’s Tech 4 Stampers Academy Blog Hop.
This month’s theme is: Card for Kids.
This month I thought I would make a children’s cute dinosaur greeting card especially as I have grandchildren who love dinosaurs. My oldest grandson knows he is not old enough to play with my dolls house so he uses his dinosaur ducks to scare the people inside but making the dinosaur roar that all of the windows. So when I saw the Darling Dinos in the January – April 2025 mini catalogue I knew I just had to have it as I could also use it on my scrapbook layouts as well as making children’s cards.
How to make my Children’s Cute Dinosaur Greeting Card Base.
First I cut a landscape card base using Basic White Thick card stock. When I cut card bases I make sure that I cut and score 2 out of one piece of A4 card stock, That way I have another card base for another card. Next I cut a mat layer using Crumb Cake card stock. I then cut another mat layer this time using Basic White card stock.
How I coloured in the Children’s Cute Dinosaur Greeting Card.
I then decided which dinosaurs I wanted to stamp. First I looked at the dies and noticed that there were some dies to make an egg. I thought this was so cute so I had to stamp the dinosaur with the long neck (Brontosaurus) coming out of the egg. I die cut out the eggs using Crumb Cake card stock and then stamped the dots onto them using Old Olive ink. You could stamp the card stock before die cutting. I then placed the egg in the middle of the card and made a mark using a pencil of where the dinosaur would be emerging out of the egg. I then inked and stamped the head and neck of the dinosaur onto the mat layer using Memento ink. If you wanted you could mask the area with a sticky note or masking paper.
Next I chose the dinosaur with the frilly neck and the three horns (Triceratops) and the Tyrannosaurus Rex and stamped them either side of the Brontosaurus. I then coloured them in using Summer Splash for the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Balmy Blue for the Brontosaurus and a mixture of Highland Health and Fresh Freesia for the Triceratops. If you wanted you could colour them in using the Stampin’ Write Markers or the Watercolour Pencils. Also as no one actually knows what colour dinosaurs were you can use whatever colours you want.
How I finished off my Children’s Cute Dinosaur Card.
Once I was happy with the colouring in I stamped grass along the bottom of the card using Olive Green ink this grounded the dinosaurs.
Next I had to decide what sentiment stamps I wanted to use. I love the ‘ROAR means in dinosaur’ stamp and the ‘Hope your birthday is DINO-mite’ sentiments. The space between the ‘ROAR means’ and ‘in dinosaur’ is not big enough for the ‘Hope your birthday is DINO-mite’ so I stamped them onto separate pieces of card stock using Black Memento ink, I then stuck the sentiments onto some Crumb Cake mat layers before adding to the card front. As you can see I added the ‘in dinosaur’ sentiment diagonally over the edge of the other sentiment and I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise it.
I really loved this card and I will definitely be making some more but with different coloured dinosaurs using the Stampin’ Write Markers and others using the Water Colouring Pencils. Why not have a go yourself and please do share your makes onto my Facebook Page.
