Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to this month’s Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop.

This Month’s Theme is: Male/Masculine.

Do you like me sometimes struggle to make a Thank you Dad card? Well as I sat at my craft desk I had the Beside Me stamp set out and I wanted to use a different stamped image to my previous Masculine card. I loved the one with the dad and the little child as it reminded me of my dad and me when I was little. I also wanted to make a seaside background but did not want to use the blending technique as I wanted to show you something different. So I decided to use the Full Of Life designer series papers and the ‘backs’ of these have lovely blended options.

How I made my Thank You Dad card

First of all I cut a portrait Basic White Thick card base. Next I took one of the ‘orange’ pieces of designer series paper tore it along the bottom to make a beach. I then stuck it onto one of the ‘blue’ pieces. Next I cut it down to fit the card front.

I then stamped the boat from the Under the Moon stamp set using Black Memento ink and drew a black line across the paper to make a horizon. Next I stamped the birds from the Under the Moon stamp set again using Black Memento ink. I then drew breakers onto the ‘sea’ where the colours changed using a white gel pen. I did try the white water colour pencil but it did not work.

How I coloured in the stamped image for my Thank You Dad card

Photograph showing you how I coloured in my stamped image for my Thank You Dad Card using Stampin' Blends

First of all I stamped the image onto a scrap of Basic White card stock using Black Memento ink. Next I coloured in the image in using the following blends:

  • Daffodil Delight (Light & Dark) – Child’s hat
  • Pool Party (Light & Dark) – Child’s T-shirt
  • Lost Lagoon (Light & Dark) – Child’s shorts
  • Pumpkin Pie (Light & Dark) – Dad’s T-shirt
  • Night of Navy (Light & Dark) – Dad’s shorts
  • Basic Black (Dark) – Dad’s hair
  • Medium Light (Dark) (SU700) – Skin on both child and dad.

Next I fussy cut around the stamped image using Paper Snips. I then made a small hole to enable me to cut around the legs and arms so that there were no white spaces and so that you could see the beach and sea behind the stamped image.

How I finished my Thank You Dad card

First I stamped the ‘Thank You Dad’ sentiment onto a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I then cut a mat layer using a scrap of Basic Black card stock. I then stuck the sentiment onto the Basic Black mat layer. Next I stuck it onto the card front in the bottom right hand side so that the Dad was pointing to the boat but high enough to allow the sentiment to just cover their feet. I added the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I stuck the designer series paper onto the card base and trimmed any over hanging bits.

I do hope that you have enjoyed seeing how I made my Thank You Dad card. I am so pleased with how I managed to make a beach scene using just two sheets of Full of Life designer series papers. Why not have a go yourself and share your creation on my Facebook page.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
