Welcome to this month’s Ink, Stamp, Share Monthly Blog Hop.
The theme this month is Summer.
For my card today I am showing you how to use Inks and Blending Brushes to make a summer background. I also wanted to share one of the Online Exclusives bundles currently available.
I started by cutting Basic White Thick card stock in half to make a portrait card base. Next I cut a Basic Black mat layer a couple of millimetres smaller and finally I cut a Basic White mat layer. I will use the Basic White mat layer for the blending.
How I started my summer card using Inks and Blending Brushes.
First I placed some masking sheet (sticky notes are just as good) across the middle of the Basic White mat layer. Next I started on the sky. The first colour I chose was Daffodil Delight for the sun and smooched it in the middle using Blending Brushes. Remembering to blend off on a piece of scrap paper before blending on the mat layer. This stops you getting darker spots on your piece of card stock. Next I used Calypso Coral around the yellow, followed by Highland Heather.
Once I was happy with the sky I moved the masking sheet lower ready to smooch the sea. For the sea I chose Balmy Blue ink and used the Basic Black Watercolour pencil to draw in a thin line for the horizon. I then moved the masking sheet down a bit further for the road/beach. For the road/beach I used Crumb Cake ink and finished off using Daffodil Delight that was still on the blending brush.
Once I was happy with the background I stuck it onto the Basic Black mat layer and then onto the card base.
How I made the truck for my summer card using Inks and Blending Brushes
To stamp the truck I used Azure Afternoon ink for the outline stamp and stamped off the Azure Afternoon in for the infill stamp. This gave a lighter coloured truck plus you can still see the truck outlines. Using Smoky Slate I did the same for the sides of the truck and the tyres. As I had used the side of the truck it would not fit into the Truck punch so I have to fussy cut it out. Next I stamped the palm tree, surf board and ball using Granny Apple Green and stamped the palm tree using the same ink but stamped off onto paper first. I then coloured in the surf board and ball using watercolour pencils and a Blender Pen. I then fussy cut out the tree etc and stick it onto the truck.
Next I placed the truck onto my scene and once I was happy with where it was I stamped the road just underneath where the truck was going to go.
How I finished off my summer card using Inks and Blending Brushes.
To finish off my card I stuck the truck onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next I cut a thin strip of Basic White card stock and stamped the sentiment ‘ Sending You Sunny Thoughts’ onto it. Finally I added the sentiment to the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I hope that you have enjoyed seeing how I made my summer card using inks and blending brushes. Why not have a go yourself and share what you have done on my Facebook Group or email them to me.

Fabulous blending. It looks beautiful x
Very clever ideas – thank you for sharing
Such a pretty card, it reminds me of the “surfing songs” in the seventies and eighties! Love the soft summercolours!
