The theme for this month has been decided by the talented Courtenay Heiston.

Here is the Sketch Courtenay has chosen:

Theme is to make a Scrapbook Layout using a Sketch

When I saw the theme was to make a Scrapbook Layout using a Sketch I immediately thought of using the Beauty Abound Suite as it would make a lovely layout. However after watching the procession of Queen Elizabeth II being taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall this afternoon I felt I needed to do a memorial layout instead.

Back in June I did a double scrapbook layout for her jubilees and never thought that 3 months later she would have died. Click here to see the Jubilee Double Spread Layout.

I was lucky to get the ‘Jubilee Ma’amalade Tea’ print of Her Royal Highness walking away with Paddington Bear . These are both icons I have grown up with. This print by Eleanor Tomlinson was shared on Social Media following the news of Queen Elizabeth II death and is very popular.

I thought I would use it again but this time add in the words that other people had added to it around the print. For the other photo area I will print off the picture that Eleanor did of the Queen, Prince Philip, one of the Queen’s black horses and one of her corgi dogs.

How I made my Scrapbook Layout using a Sketch

Photo of my Scrapbook Layout using a Sketch

I started by choosing a 12×12 sheet of Basic Black card stock. Next I cut a circle using Real Red card stock. I then cut two pieces of Basic White card stock for my prints. Next I cut a piece of Pacific Point card stock to mount these onto. I then cut a piece of Black and White checks to look like plaid from the Gingham Cottage designer series paper pack. Once I had stuck the designer series paper in place I then stuck the print mat layers onto the layout.

I decided that I would use the Poppy Moments Dies as poppies signify remembrance. I then die cut the poppies using Real Red and Basic Black card stock. Next I die cut the leaves using Old Olive and Garden Green card stock. Once I had stuck them together I placed them onto the layout before sticking them down.

How I finished my Scrapbook Layout using a Sketch

To finish off my layout I decided to die cut a banner out of Basic White card stock using the large banner from the Stylish Shapes dies. As I am still deciding on the title of my layout I have left it blank also I am toying with the idea of making a tag that says ‘Please look after the Queen’ which is similar to the tag that Paddington Bear had. I wanted to add some gems to represent the Crown Jewels so decided to use the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels and scatter them around the Real Red circle.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my scrapbook layout using a sketch. Why not have a go at using the sketch to design your own scrapbook layout and please share your makes on my Facebook page.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
