Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop Title

Welcome to this month’s Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop

The theme this month is Scrap the Boys

September 2021 Scrap the Boys Image

When I saw the theme Scrap the Boys I wondered which photos I was going to use on my Scrapbook Layout. Whilst searching through my pile of photos I came across my Family History Folder. In there I found two photos and a sheet of typed up information on one of my paternal family members who served as a reservist with the Suffolk Regiment in the North West Frontier in India. He also served in the Boar War in Africa and died shortly after returning to Cambridge. I have decided to call this scrapbook layout Family History – James Bailey.

How I made my Family History Scrapbook Layout

Photo of finished Family History Scrapbook Layout

First I started with a sheet of 12×12 Basic White card stock. Then I used one of the poppy stamps from the Painted Poopy stamp set. I stamped the image along the bottom of the page using Evening Evergreen ink. Next I coloured in the poppies using the Real Red Blends.

Next I trimmed the report into two sections before sticking them onto Real Red card stock. This ensured they tied in with the poppies. Then I stuck them onto the stamped page.

I decided not to back the photos as I wanted to keep the colour scheme very simple and they did not look right on a Real Red mat layer.

I decided I wanted a very simple title so I wrote what I wanted on a scrap of Basic White before sticking it onto a scrap of Real Red card stock. This I stuck onto the page layout.

I finished off the page with some journalling which my granddad wrote on the back of the photo of James in his uniform.

Whilst making this layout I realised I need to do a bit more research into James and his war service record. His date and place of birth.

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my Family History Scrapbook Layout and my simple but effective stamped border. Also I hope that it has inspired you to have a go yourself.

Until next time, keep stampin n crafting,
